Frequently asked questions about certified Portuguese translation, USCIS requirements, pricing, and turnaround, answered straight.
The federal rule behind these answers is 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). It requires a full English translation plus a signed certification that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate. It does not list notarization or ATA membership as requirements, so always follow the instructions for your specific USCIS form or your attorney. Will USCIS accept your translation?
Yes. Every translation meets USCIS requirements under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) and includes a signed Certificate of Accuracy. If USCIS rejects it because of our translation, we correct and redeliver it free within 24 hours. If it still is not accepted because of our work, we refund your order in full.
Does it need to be notarized?
No. USCIS does not require notarization for translated documents, so it is not part of what you pay for. See notarized vs certified translation for the difference.
Can I translate my own documents?
The rule does not forbid it, but certifying evidence in your own case invites extra scrutiny, and one small slip can cost you months. See can I translate my own document for USCIS, or have it done for $19 a page.
How fast can I get it?
Standard delivery is within 24 hours. A 4-hour rush is $9 a page for up to 10 pages. For more than 10 pages, contact us for bulk pricing and timing.
How much does it cost?
$19 per page. One page is up to 250 words, and you see your exact price before you pay.
Do you translate the whole document?
Yes. We translate everything, including stamps, seals, registry numbers, and any notes on the back or margins. A partial translation is a common reason a document is rejected.
Do I need an apostille?
Sometimes, and it is separate from the translation. An apostille authenticates the original document. It does not replace a translation, and if it is attached we translate it too.
Is my document kept private?
Yes. Your documents are handled confidentially and are never shared. You can send them securely after you reach out.
What if my names do not match across documents?
Tell us, and we will format names so they are consistent with your application. Mismatched names are a common cause of delays, so it is worth flagging up front.
